What is workers’ compensation?

Protecting occupational health, workers’ compensation or workmans’ comp, is a state-mandated insurance program that provides compensation to employees who sustain injuries and illnesses with  job-related activities. The federal government administers a workers’ comp program for federal and certain employees, California has its own laws workers’ compensation and safety programs.

Why is workers’ compensation important?

Generally, an employee that sustains a work-related illness or injury can get workers’ compensation benefits regardless of who was at fault — the employee, the employer, a coworker, a customer, or some other third party.
